Hilary vs. Trump: A Battle of Character Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump face off in the 2016 presidential election, representing the democratic and republican parties, respectively, and fighting over the vote of each American. Commercial advertisements are an effective medium by which Clinton and Trump communicate with the people. In ââ¬Å"Unfitâ⬠, the commercial for Clinton, various sources damning Trump are played in addition to footage of the republican candidate, arguably, at his worst. Meanwhile, the commercial from Trumpââ¬â¢s campaign, ââ¬Å"Two Americas: Economyâ⬠, depicts two distinct versions of Americaââ¬â¢s economic future: a devastated future under Clinton and a prosperous future under Trump. Through each campaignââ¬â¢s commercials, the candidates attempt to destroy their opponentââ¬â¢s credibility, appeal to the logic and emotions of the people, as well as establish their own integrity. In ââ¬Å"Unfitâ⬠, Clinton uses fallacious arguments in order to attack her opponentââ¬â¢s ethos and ultimately suggest Trumpââ¬â¢s propensity to have a ruinous effect on the nation. Ramage reveals that ethos is focused on the writerââ¬â¢s character and ââ¬Å"refers to the credibility of the writer.â⬠Clinton, in her commercial, uses various quotes, from reliable sources, which depict Trump with very little ethical appeal. For instance, in the commercial, columnist Charles Krauthamer remarks, ââ¬Å"You have to ask yourself, do I want a person of that temperament in control of the nuclear codes?
